I want to incorporate some sort of texture in my layouts, but I do not yet know how to do it. This example looks sort of interesting, but it is far from what I would like it to be.

Name ideas and logo explorations for “Labelink”.
The name labeling did not go over well in the crit, so I will try to come up with something better. Higgins suggested the word “Garden”, since it has a connection to beer in German.

Peter is a shoe cobbler. That has been his trade since he was 18 years old. He works long and tiring hours, but loves it. Ever since Peter was young he as been a collector of small, beautiful things that some people might overlook in their daily lives. He started off with stamps, which he lovingly removed from the envelopes of his father’s correspondance letters and neatly placed in albums. Later he collected coins from around the world. When he turned 21, and was able to buy beer, he decided that from then on he would save the label of every beer he had. Peter likes beer. This is why he has a magnificent label collection. Now he wants to show his collection and also start a community where like-minded people can share their acquisitions. He is also hoping to make some money off of this venture. Even though he has tried to drink a different beer every time (to get new labels) he has quite a few duplicates, which he would like to sell. Hopefully then he will be able to spread his time equally over all his interests.

Possible name ideas

Since I am working with labels from beer bottles, I was thinking of something along the lines of:

Label Link
-Label Love
Alement
Mead Meeting
Ale Area
Label Location
Label Life
-Hops Hangout
Beer Paper
-Paper Beer
Label Paper
-Label Square (implies market/community)
Linking Labels

I am not entirely sure what name I want to go with yet, but I think the ones marked with a line work the best out of the ones I have so far.

Nothing Lost
I found this text interesting because of how he discribes many of his collections as involuntary. It seems as if it is something that just happens, rather than there being a genuine want or need for collecting. I like to collect things too, but when I do it is because I anticipate my needing them in the future.

Collaboration & Community
This reading is, as far as I understand it, about how community functions. It was interesting, but I cannot really relate it to the subject of collecting.

Classifying Lassie
I thought this text was great. This is what I try to do in my head, on a daily basis, in order to familiarize myself with information: creating mental maps, etc. I am looking forward to doing the same for my collection – to see how the items relate to each other.

Matchbooks
Ceramic Animals
Name tags
Beer Labels

I am most interested in matchbooks and beer labels. I have small collections of both and I find them quite inspirational. I feel like the small space amplifies the artwork and makes it much better than it would have been in a larger format.
